Laying Ceramic Tiles

Laying ceramic tiles in a room has two basic purposes. The first relates to convenience of ceramic tiles in terms of easy maintenance, water resistance, etc., and the other to aesthetic features.

What to do before tiling?

Before commencing any work on tiling, it is necessary to confirm that all preliminary work has been properly performed. Work on electrical installations, water supply and sewerage system, as well as placement of water insulating layer represent a part of preliminary work that needs to be properly executed. Afterwards, one may approach the tiling.

Tiling Methods

Tiles may be laid in two manners. The first method is to set the tile into the adhesive, and the second is to lay tiles onto the material. As for the quality and durability, both methods are equally good. The main differences are in the method of work, type of tiles to be installed and preparation of the surface. Laying tiles onto the adhesive has a wider use and therefore is recently more frequently used compared to laying tiles onto the material.
